Services & Staff: Cardiology

< Back to homepage

Heart problems can range from mild concerns prompting specialist check-up through to life-threatening diseases. Diagnostic investigation is the key to determining the likely outcome and correct advice on therapy. Our service is led by a Board-Certified Cardiologist.

We see all cases of congenital and acquired heart disease in dogs and cats.

This can include the definitive investigation of heart murmurs, analysis of arrhythmias (altered heart rhythm) and specialist-led investigations of symptoms such as coughing, laboured breathing, exercise intolerance or episodes of collapse/fainting.

The range of services we can provide include:

  • Electrocardiograms (ECGs) – specialist interpretation
  • Holter monitoring – continuous ECG investigation of intermittent collapse or weakness and for the diagnosis and monitoring of treatment of arrhythmias
  • Echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound)
  • Thoracic radiography
  • Drainage of pericardial effusions
  • Key hole thorax surgery for the diagnostic investigation of chest disease including thorascopic biopsies
  • Bronchoscopic investigation of airway diseases; the removal of inhaled foreign bodies and investigation of cases with chronic breathing problems or coughing.

We are currently seeing cardiology cases via a board-certified cardiologist. Further web info to follow in this section...
